our process
While every client & garden is unique, we generally follow the below design stages:
1) Workout the brief - clients often find our 'Your New Garden' template handy to capture ideas & pics in the first instance. Once drafted we sit with the client to discuss in further depth & view the current site.
2) Site survey - measurement of dimensions, levels & capture of existing assets such as hard feature, plants & services. Moreover, soil type, neighbouring elements & site situation.
3) Survey Drawing - post site survey we draw the current garden plan.
This aids to identify early any challenges to the brief & potential landscaping issues. Secondly the boundary dimensions are used to also initiate the new design in particular to the house or other fixed assets (e.g., out-buildings, trees).
4) Design - from the survey drawing & brief we work-up the new garden. In most cases a draft 2D plan is presented to the client for any tweaks or additional considerations. The full design is then developed in 3D for presentation to the customer & design pack creation.
5) Design Pack - our design pack is delivered as a .pdf containing scaled drawings to aid construction. The pack usually includes all survey drawings, new views, planting ideas & construction detailing. Lighting & full planting plans included if required. Example design packs can be supplied at stage 1) .
6) Build - basically it now over to the landscaper! This is separate to our activities although we liaise as needed. We can recommend
trusted landscapers or work with your chosen contractors. Planting is usually done by us tho!
7) Aftercare - as well as being on call during the build we visit your new garden to review & advise on any elements.
More often than not we do undertake regular care sessions particularly for planting establishment & client support.
